VisitMD makes it easier to receive medical care without leaving home. Our physician-led, in-home care model is designed to reduce stress, remove common barriers, and provide a clear, supportive experience for patients and families across Central and North Orange County, California.
Below is what you can expect when scheduling and receiving an in-home doctor visit.
1. Request a Visit
Getting started begins with a simple request for an in-home visit. Our team gathers basic information to understand your needs, location, and availability. This helps ensure the visit is appropriate and scheduled with care and clarity.
Patients or caregivers can request visits for:
2. We Come to You
Once a visit is scheduled, a VisitMD physician travels directly to the patient’s home. There is no need to arrange transportation, sit in a waiting room, or rush to an appointment.
By coming to the home, we help patients:
3. In-Home Evaluation & Care
During the visit, the physician takes time to listen, evaluate, and address the patient’s concerns. Home visits are designed to be unhurried and patient-centered.
A typical visit may include:
Being in the home also allows the physician to better understand factors such as mobility, safety, and support systems.
4. Follow-Up & Ongoing Care
When ongoing care is appropriate, VisitMD focuses on continuity and clear communication. Follow-up may include additional in-home visits or coordination to support the patient’s health over time.
This approach is especially helpful for:
Care plans are guided by the patient’s individual needs and preferences.
VisitMD provides insurance-based in-home medical care. Our services are billed through insurance, and we do not operate as a private-pay or cash-only practice.
Coverage and benefits can vary based on individual insurance plans and circumstances. For this reason, specific plan details are reviewed as part of the scheduling process.
Our team is available to help:
This approach helps ensure transparency and clear expectations while keeping the process as simple and supportive as possible.
VisitMD physicians serve as the medical lead and ordering provider, coordinating care when additional services are clinically appropriate.
How It Works

All home health and hospice services are delivered by independent third-party agencies following a physician referral
Important Clarification
VisitMD does not directly provide home health, hospice, or caregiver services.
We provide physician-led medical care and referrals only.
In-home medical care is not appropriate for emergencies. Symptoms such as chest pain, stroke signs, or severe breathing difficulty require immediate emergency services. Visit timing depends on availability and cannot be guaranteed.
Some services must be completed outside the home. Advanced imaging, certain diagnostic tests, procedures, specialty care, inpatient treatment, and facility-based services require referral. Severe psychiatric conditions also require specialty mental health care.
When in-home care is not appropriate, VisitMD focuses on clear communication and coordination to help guide next steps safely.
VisitMD is committed to delivering calm, physician-led care in the comfort of the patient’s home. Our process is designed to be simple, respectful, and focused on what matters most to patients and families.
